CDA’s education program grew out of our documentary projects in Laos and the Philippines. While working there, we saw the difference education could make for families in developing economies. We also saw the barriers that tuition, transportation and books posed, despite their relatively low cost compared to the United States. Even with our modest budget, CDA has managed to support a handful of families in Laos and the Philippines with small education grants that were sufficient to enable students to attend better schools and graduate to better futures.
CDA is seeking to pair sponsors with individual students to enable more families to benefit from our education program. One hundred percent of each education gift goes directly to student tuition, books, transportation, uniforms and other school fees. There are NO administrative costs. All donations are fully tax deductible because sponsors will never receive incentivizing gifts or services. Sponsors are encouraged to communicate with the families directly via internet and even travel to meet them in person. Once CDA decides to sponsor a student, we commit to continuing our support until that student graduates. We ask our education donors to make the same commitment.
Do you know a student you would like to sponsor in a developing country or in an underserved area of the United States? You can apply to CDA for fiscal sponsorship. After evaluating the student and interviewing the family, we will determine if they meet our criteria. If we approve your application, we will provide fiscal sponsorship for your long term financial support of the student’s education.
